Flaxseed
MSRP $2.28 · HungaryFlax fibers are used to make textiles, and we use our screw press to press oil from its seeds, but the golden flax seeds are also worth consuming on their own, due to their digestive properties. Flax seeds are extremely rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (essential Omega-3), vitamins, minerals (e.g. potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium), and fiber. Consuming the seeds whole facilitates intestinal function and aids digestion. In this case, however, the seeds pass through the digestive tract undigested. If we want the valuable nutrients of the seeds to be utilized, crush them a little before consumption (and drink plenty of water with them) or incorporate them into our diet in the form of flaxseed oil and flaxseed flour. We can sprinkle them on salads, porridge, and side dishes. When baking, we can add them to the dough or on top of bread, making our everyday lives healthier.
